Gilles Peterson & Roberto Fonseca present Havana Cultura Live
Become witness of a legendary concert: “Gilles Peterson & Roberto Fonseca present Havana Cultura Live”. For this unique project there will be just seven concerts in Europe this year, and only one in the Benelux!
Roberto Fonseca has become one of the Cuban pianists with the largest international projection. In his early twenties he replaced the famous Rúben González in the Buena Vista Social Club. After the death of “the last big Buena Vista Social Club star” Ibrahim Ferrer he left this project to start his solo career. Until now Roberto Fonseca has released two acclaimed solo albums.
World-renowned globetrotting DJ, broadcaster and tastemaker Gilles Peterson inspired and was the precursor at the end of the 80s of record labels Acid Jazz ans Talkin’ Loud. He has been associated with well known artists such as Jamiroquai, Brand New Havies and Erykah Badu. Nowadays, he is also well known as a radio commentor on BBC Radio 1 with his Worldwide project. This project is broadcasted on several international radio stations.
In 2008 and 2009 Gilles Peterson took a trip to Havana, Cuba to check out the new generation of Havana-based artists. Besides Roberto Fonseca the following young artists will be live on stage: the 25-year-old singer and rapper Danay Fernandez Suarez and two hip hoppers of the band Ogguere, Ulises Quiñones & Edrey Rivery.
